Ghost Fingers

If needed not the awareness of our innocence imply
the acceptance of a loss
And needed not the awareness of time
be shown knifedrawn across your face and chest
What would have been the point in getting to know you?

After the rain has come down
And after your deadly sword has fallen
from your skeletal hand
What could have been the point
in trying to make you understand?

I can still hear your songs spilled from another woman’s lips
I can still hear your heart sing through another woman’s body
What would have been the point
in laying ghost fingers on something not meant to stay
something as tangible as snowflakes in flames?

What would have been the point
In laying ghostfingers on, while trying to explain
and trying to remain
untouched
unspoilt
unloved
and unchanged
